Georgia Proposes Taxes on Veterinary Serivces

Vets, Pet Owners Concerned Over Proposed Tax: MyFoxATLANTA.com
The state of Georgia is trying to raise revenue and one of the ideas on the table is to tax Veterinary services not just some services but everything from the visit to medication to x-rays and surgery. This in a state that has seen a 25% increase in Euthanasia rates in the last 2 years because people already struggling financially cannot afford the cost of surgeries and other treatments to alleviate their pets of pain.

"People might have to make tough decisions, might not be able to provide good care. Their pets might be in pain. Or worse yet, they might have to opt for euthanasia," said Dr. Vince Obsitnik of the Animal Medical Clinic.

Vets across Georgia are starting an email campaign urging pet owners to write their representatives. The bills are House Bills 385 to 388.
