Its hard to stick to anything if you aren't passionate about it. While this is true of anything in life it is even more so about blogging. With so many other things going on in our lives blogging often takes a back seat. Unless of course you are so passionate about your blog and really love what you are doing, then your blog will be the place you go in order to unwind and de-stress. It will be that place you go to in order to find inspiration for the rest of your life.
You have to make a commitment that whether you are busy, sick, frustrated, tired, or burned out that you will be able to push through that to create a post with substance. The more active you can be with your blog the more successful it will be. Which means you need to know going in that you will be able to create content. Content is King (or Queen) when it comes to blogging. Find your passion and let it bloom.
Your blog can be about a hobby of yours or something you engage in each and every day.
Only you can know what you are truly passionate about because not only will you be writing for your blog but you will be following others in your Niche so that you can stay on top of all the news and latest trends in your specific area. Plus you will want to unplug and read magazines, newspaper articles, and with some blogging niches you will probably be spending considerable time in the kitchen, or out in the field taking pictures, or even attending specific events or engaging in forums and meet ups.
Sometimes we need to figure out just what we are passionate about it might be more general then your originally thought or more narrow then you had envisioned. As long as it works for you and you are passionate about what you are talking about the rest will come naturally. If you have to force a blog post out it will read like it was forced.
Be Passionate, Be Natural, and Post often.
