The Tampa Florida Police Department received some very special gifts from the community two 12-week-old bloodhounds, Ellie Mae and Riley, will help officers in tracking. Camden, a 17-month-old Belgian Malinois, is a patrol dog and will help detect explosives, police said. They join a Canine unit that is already 22 dogs strong.
The bloodhound puppies will be trained in one area only to use their keen sense of smell to find drugs, explosives and people. The Malinois Camden will be used to help catch criminals through tracking their scent as well as for detecting explosive. The police dogs in training will live with their canine unit handlers in their homes as cherished pets for the duration of their time together.
