I was asked the question how do you form meaningful relationships when you can only communicate using 140 characters. My answer is twitter party or for the animals pawpawty! While you will be spending most of your time during your first few parties just trying to keep up with everything you will be able to find people who are interested in the same topics you are. There are parties taking place every day actually multiple parties a day just pick and choose the ones that work for you. I usually follow parties using Tweetgrid that way I can set up the party so that every tweet I send out has the hashtag already built in so I don't have to remember. I can also follow along with the host / hostess of the event and see the entire conversation.
When participating in the event answer the questions from the hostess giving your tips and advice and watching what other people say. If they have a great idea re-tweet it or let them know how great you think their idea is. When someone re-tweets you or people congratulate you on winning a prize be sure to thank them. Now you are forming relationships you can cultivate later on.
If you decide to follow someone say hello after the party and let them know you both attended the same event. Talk about why you like the brand or ideas that were discussed and see how they use the product in their lives.
Create a new list for the party so you remember who you added and why. For instance you can call the list pawpawty and then there will be no mistaking why you felt they were someone you would like to continue the conversation with.
I don't know how busy you all are but I know I need constant reminders about what is happening when so instead of telling you about something 5 days from now I am going to list a few of the twitter parties taking place tonight those that might be of interest to all of you.
