Just Say No To Dog Fighting!

Dog Fighting is the most vile "sport" I have ever heard of. There is nothing cute or fun or remotely endearing about literally setting 2 or dogs against each other in a fight to their death. There is nothing I can say that would put dog fighting or the training that takes place before these events in good light. Its not something rational adults would partake in as I am sure they would throw up or start crying if they happened to come across a Dog Fighting ring. Why is it ok to make a game out of something so horrendous that taking part in the actual "sport " is illegal across the US to sell it on the open market so kids and teens can play on their cell phones?

I must really be missing something here. First how could any US based company allow such a game to be sold and second whoever created the app or game or whatever you want to call it should be investigated as they most likely are involved in Dog Fighting if they think this sort of thing is ok.

OVERVIEW of Android App - created by Stephanie Feldstein on Change.org

In "Dog Wars" (by Kage Games, LLC), an app for Android smartphones, you can feed, water, train and fight dogs. This app makes a game out of dog fighting -- celebrating cruelty against animals and contributing to the attitude that there's nothing wrong with using animals in bloodsports. This type of media fuels animal abuse and breed specific legislation, which costs innocent dogs their lives.
The company attacks people who are offended by this app by saying "It is just a video game." But they also tweeted the following: "#DogWars gametip: steroids will help you get stronger but just like real life you still gotta train for max effect."
One dedicated player created a video of tips, such as using the guns in the game for protection in police raids. The video also includes photos of dogs tagged with known fighting lines and puppies for sale.
Dog fighting is a felony across all 50 states. "Dog Wars" promotes violence and creates a virtual community for a very real crime. Like many sites, Android Market's policies don't specifically address animal cruelty, but do state: "Android Market should not be used for unlawful purposes or for promotion of dangerous and illegal activities."
Android, owned by Google, shouldn't be allowing this type of app in its market. Tell Android/Google to block "Dog Wars" and stop condoning animal cruelty.

Before anyone starts to point fingers at the Game on Facebook or MySpace with the same name I wanted to let you know they do not seem to be associated at all. Here is a message from its developer:

All - a terrible new app also called Dog Wars has been released on the Android. It has nothing to do with us and simulates actual dog fighting. We did not develop it and are not affiliated with it in any way. Furthermore we are consulting with our legal team to have the app taken down. They just happen to be using the same name we are using. Please show your support for our game and combat the conflicting reviews that are hitting us on facebook. You all know this game in no way simulates or supports dog fighting, but quite the opposite. It fosters love and support for dog owners and has served to bring so many of us together. I myself love animals to no end and try to actively support the ASPCA. Please take a moment to help clear up the false accusations being made about this game on Facebook! Thank you all! Always yours, -Kevin

I decided to check out the Facebook App. to see what it is all about and to make sure it was not a part of the other game by the same name. On the outside it looks nothing like the Dog Fighting Game for the Android. From just taking a brief glance it looks much like Mafia Wars only that you play as a dog and you engage in dog activities like digging for bones in order to raise up in rank.

1. Jobs: Completing jobs is the quickest way to earn bones and experience
2. Territories: Mark new territory to earn a recurring revenue per hour
3. Tricks: Learn new tricks to help complete jobs and defeat opponents
4. Fight: Attack other rival packs to steal their bones and rise the ranks

I will be writing to the creator of the Facebook app to get more information about the game and how he is doing with his legal team.
