Petfinder's Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week 19 - 25

This week marks Petfinder's Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet event. All week long they will be showcasing animals who need a little extra love from their adoptive families. These animals are just a little down on their luck but not on the love they have to share with their new family. Some need medication, others require a special diet, some are blind or deaf, and some just need a special home that has no other pets. Through no fault of their own these animals are the ones who get overlooked at the shelters when people go looking for the perfect pet for their family. Petfinder has made the decision to help find these animals homes or at least get their pictures and stories out there for the public to see so they went to the organizations that list their animals on the Petfinder site and asked each one to submit the animal they are having the hardest time placing in a home. They compiled the list of thousands and thousands of "Less Adoptable Pets" and are asking your help in spreading their story.

If you post about this event you will want to post your link here http://www.blogpawsbethechange.com/2010/09/adopt-a-less-adoptable-pet-challenge-update.html so not only will the impact you make be seen your posts will help raise money for 2 specific charities that only work with less adoptable animals. (Sorry I just have too many link ups too close together to put another one up. It is just getting confusing to people and I want to make sure your posts count towards the proper event).

Meet Clifford:

Clifford is heartworm positive and on treatment.
Clifford is the big red dog we all wanted when we were growing up. He's everything a beloved companion should be. Clifford was rescued in a rural part of Arkansas. When we found him, he was nothing but bones. He was so happy to be rescued that he just jumped in the car as soon as he was sure he was REALLY being invited. Now he is strong and loves to lay on his back and just enjoy the sun.

We don't know how old Clifford is. He's not a young dog, but he's not such an old guy, either. His hips are a little creaky, so he's not that active. We don't know what breed Clifford is, either. We would call him an "Arkansas Red."

Clifford loves puppies! He's the best puppy sitter we've ever had. He lets them crawl all over him, but lets them know in a nice way when he's had enough. He doesn't seem to like cats. He lives with 4 cats in his foster home. He would never hurt one, but he does not enjoy sharing the couch with a kitty!

Clifford is heart-worm positive, and because of his age, we are treating him with Ivermectin for 18 months. He's doing great - has no heart murmur or other symptoms. He sometimes needs meds for his stiff hips, and, when adopted, a supply of those medictions will be part of his adoption.

Clifford is house-trained, crate-trained and does well on a leash. Basically, Clifford is just a nice dog.

Clifford would be a nice family dog or even a great companion for a single person or a couple. He just wants to hang with you and enjoy your company.
Contact debandronb@earthlink.net for an application or more information about Clifford.

Warm Hearts' animals are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications are reviewed, interviews are conducted, and vet references are checked to help determine the best home for our animals.

Because most of our animals are rescues, breed and age determination are typically our best guess. All that matters to us, is that we find the right home for each animal in our foster care.
