We are estimating that Buddy was born around 7/05 and is 5 years old. He wandered up to one of our volunteers house in 12/06 and he has been at our kennel since then (almost 4 years!). No one ever wants the black dogs... Buddy is a black full grown male lab mix that weighs 63 pounds. He loves people (prefers women over men) and kids and plays great with them. He loves to chew his bones and lay on the couch with you. Buddy did have a problem with dog aggression and used to not play well with some other dogs at our shelter. He has since gotten over all of this and plays well with all of the dogs now! He would probably do best as an only dog at first but may also be fine with a submissive female of the same size or a playful male of the same size.
He is very outgoing and playful! He was out at a foster home with a mother and 2 children for 2 weeks in the past and did wonderfully. He was also at a foster home for a few days and did wonderful with the wife but did not care for the husband and growled at him. He is at our kennel now. It would be best for Buddy to be an only dog to begin with or with one other dog that he can be slowly intoduced to. He may need some postive reinforcement and obedience training. With a patient family that can give him a chance he could be happier and hopefully find a forever family. Buddy walks great on a leash but would do best with a fenced in yard. Ther perfect home for Buddy would be with women. Buddy desperately needs a foster home and a permanent home. Out of all the dogs we have he has been here the longest.
Adoption Donation is $175.00 which is very negotiable since he has been here so long. He is a big love bug! Please give him a chance. We will let you take him on a trial basis. This dog is neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative, microchipped and is on monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Adoption fee is $175.00 which is negotiable.
