#blogathon Meet Ronnie

Ronnie photo courtesy of PetfinderRonnie needs a forever home! Ronnie has recovered very quickly from his harsh life outside, and is enjoying being a spoiled indoor cat. He has a beautiful, thick coat and is a very large size cat. He is so sweet - he absolutely loves the dog and loves to be with other cats and his foster people. He is learning the joys of being brushed now that he is getting a beautiful coat, and loves to be petted. He even likes being picked up and carried around (by his people - not by the vet!) and will sit on your lap. He is a typical "helper" cat, into everything you are doing. He is also very smart - figuring out the scratching post and cat door in no time and showing that he knows how to be a perfect indoor cat! He is litter trained with no accidents, doesn't spray and always uses the scratching post.
Being FIV positive is this cat's only flaw. What is FIV?

Other than being FIV positive, Ronnie is healthy with clean blood work. It would be best if he could be indoors only, although he may be indoor/outdoor in the appropriate environment. Ronnie will likely live a full life, and is desperately seeking the love he missed out on - please give him a chance!
Here's the rest of Ronnie's story: Ronnie appeared on the street of one of the directors. He was in terrible shape, and was running around frantically, howling day and night. He was caught using a humane trap, and to everyone's surprise, he was totally tame, but just very distressed. He was rushed to the vet, where he was diagnosed with FIV and a urinary tract infection, both likely the result of being a tame but unneutered cat fending for himself outside. Neuter surgery was also performed along with the treatment for his urinary tract infection. Although he is FIV positive, he can live with other cats in certain circumstances - FIV is not transmitted through casual contact. As with any special needs cat, any potential adopter should discuss integrating Ronnie into their household with their vet. Full documentation from our program vet is also available.
