TommyGreen was rescued in January of this year from a feral colony when he was about 12 wks old. His mother was barely more than a kitten herself, and from her litter of 6, only Tommy and his sister survived. He had a severe upper respiratory and eye infection and an awful flea infestation. It took us 3 days to capture him, but he was starving and finally he just couldn't resist the smell of the warm chicken breast we used as a lure.
Little Tommy and his sister were extremely feral for such young kittens. They were terrified of us to the point that we almost gave up on socializing them. When he was about 5 months old, we brought in a little blind kitten from that same colony, and that was the turning point in TommyGreen's life. He became a big brother and protector of the wee one an would sit close by as we cleaned and cared for his "baby brother". As the baby grew so did Tommy's trust of us.
Today, he loves to get in bed with us or curl up right next to us on the couch and be stroked and petted, but for reasons only Tommy knows, we still cannot walk up to him or reach down to touch him. He will let complete strangers sit on the couch next to him and scratch his ears and pet him, but even the humans he trusts cannot walk up to him. That makes it hard to show people what a loving boy he really is.
Tommy is a perfect gentleman and will be wonderful for an older person or a small family in a calm household. We have seen absolutely no aggression in this boy toward humans or other animals. In fact, we have never even seen him hiss or growl. He just has the most gentle and kind spirit! He loves kittens and likes older children, but we've never seen him around younger children because he always hides from them. He has never been around a dog, but based on his personality, he would probably love puppies, and would make friends with any family dog. Please consider this wonderful boy.
